Work with me
I'm Jon. I'm a product engineer with about twenty years of experience. I currently work at Lingokids on billing, pricing, and accounts.
I'm looking for a senior IC role where I own a domain end to end โ not a coordination role, not a ticket factory, not a pair of hands.
What I'm looking for
- A scale-up or a consolidated product with real users.
- A small or medium team.
- A senior IC role with ownership of a domain.
- Remote within Europe, or Pamplona.
- Enough proximity to the problem to see it, and enough decision rights to do something about it.
What I'm not looking for
- A handoff role where product writes the spec, design designs, and I implement.
- A role that exists to save headcount.
- A title without a problem.
What I do
I own outcomes. The code is one of the consequences.
At Lingokids I unified four billing providers behind one API (~3k in-app purchases/day), shipped a self-serve pricing and offers tool used in ~150 countries, and built account merging that closed ~10k support tickets. Before that, I worked on card enrichment at Triple (150ms to under 60ms, 1,000+ requests per second) and the financial transaction layer at G.games (1M transactions/day).
The short version: I find the problem behind the request, decide what not to build, and stay for the measurement.
How I work
Four habits: start with the problem, ship small, make the system easy to own, and learn the domain well enough to challenge the request.
Proof
The practical bits
- Based in: Pamplona, Spain (CET/CEST).
- Remote: Yes, within Europe. I'm also happy to meet in person in Pamplona.
- Languages: I work in English and Spanish.
- Stack: TypeScript and React on the product side, Python/Java/Groovy where the service already lives, PostgreSQL, AWS/GCP, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Contract: I care more about the problem and the ownership than the label. Permanent or contract, we can figure out the shape.
- Availability: I'm open to conversations about the right role.
What to send me
If you're hiring, tell me:
- the problem you're trying to solve;
- the team and the constraints;
- what "done" looks like six months in.
Email me and tell me what's in the way.
If you're looking for a pair of hands, I'm not your person. If you have a product problem that needs someone who owns the outcome, let's talk.
